Sam Glaves

Program Lead, Life Sciences

Richard Sam Glaves teaches a range of human biology subjects including Human Anatomy and Human Physiology at the San Ramon Campus of Diablo Valley college. He has been teaching in higher education for 10 years, and at Diablo Valley College for seven. 

Mr. Glaves received his bachelor’s from UC Berkeley in Molecular Cell Biology with an emphasis in genetics, genomics, and cell development and a master's in biology from Central Michigan University. His research primarily focused on genetics, involving research project collaborations on genetics and early development of aquaculture shrimp species with the University of Queensland-Australia, and cancer development/prevention with the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center. 

Mr. Glaves is proud to also be a part of the Career Academies program at Ƶ which works together with local high schools and health care facilities to prepare a path for students to smoothly transition to careers in the health care field. He enjoys playing and watching soccer and cooking.
