Anna Kuzmenko began at ������Ƶ in 2020 to study programming, aiming for a computer science degree to explore software development. However, along the way she uncovered a new passion—one that would change her path entirely.

“What drives me is communication, connecting with people, building relationships and solving problems. In 2021, I acquired my first investment property and started building a business, even though real estate was new to me. That’s when it clicked—I needed to switch my major to business administration.”

But pursuing her dream of earning an associate degree came with its challenges. As a full-time student, Anna soon realized that balancing education, work and raising children was tougher than she’d expected. Determined to succeed, she made a pivotal decision that changed her entire experience: she transitioned to part-time enrollment and embraced online classes, setting her on a path to success.

“It was the best choice I could have made. Not only did it save me time commuting to campus, but it also allowed me to work at my own pace and fit study time into my schedule comfortably. Having a week to complete assignments with clear deadlines helped me stay organized and follow a routine. This balance brought me real happiness, as I could give my best to my education, work and family life all at once.”

Returning to school as an adult, Anna was no stranger to hard work. When she moved to the U.S. from Ukraine in 2014, she had already earned a master’s degree in modern languages from the National Technical University of Ukraine. Now a self-employed real estate investor and property manager, Anna values the support of DVC’s instructors and counseling center, which has kept her motivated and on track.

“Every instructor at ������Ƶ was genuinely invested in helping us grasp their subject. They shared valuable experiences and continually inspired me to become a better version of myself. And my DVC counselors always provided the guidance I needed.”

Anna also finds inspiration and support through DVC’s ESO Ventures Incubator Program, which offers free, culturally relevant entrepreneurship training to underserved populations.

“This program has been invaluable, giving me the opportunity to learn from experienced business mentors and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs who are at similar stages of business growth.”

While at ������Ƶ, Anna earned her Real Estate Salesperson Certificate and is now just 1.5 courses away from completing her associate degree, aiming to graduate in spring 2025.

What’s next for Anna? “I am eager to put my knowledge into practice, tackle any obstacles that come my way, and achieve success in my real estate endeavors.”
