A new species?

A new species of river dolphin has been found in the Amazon Araguala river basin, unlike other river dolphin species, Araguaian boto is different since it's DNA and skull morphology is different from other river dolphins.

Scientists say that the samples from the rds (river dolphins) were collected from Dead carcasses and some from live animals using gentle DNA sampling procedures.

According to nat geo, this is the first river dolphin species to be discovered in a century!

River dolphins also called botos are the most rarest and endangered of all dolphin species, They might name this new species Araguaian boto, or Inia araguaiaensis.

the scientists and biologists are still going through the naming process...
